My Piece of the City – feature doc

For the last year I had the honour and pleasure to produce Moze Mossanen’s latest feature documentary My Piece of the City.  For weeks Moze followed the process of the musical endeavor The Journey.  He tirelessly watched the performance camp as aspiring young members of the Regent Park community demonstrated their abilities.  And as we went into production with the schedule of rehearsals for The Journey meandering over two and half months, pinpointing the 9 days of shoot were challenging at best.  But I think we were able to capture all of the wonderful moments that these young performers faced as they put together this reflection of a community in transition. The excitement, the hope, the fears and the internal and external conflicts that these youth face during rehearsals, in their lives and in their surroundings are all relevant to revitalization projects in the inner city around the world.  With the generous support of Daniels and Innocon, we are excited to be submitting this film to festivals and hope to be announcing some acceptances soon.  Look for further announcements in the future!
